Buying Custom Cast Wear Parts in Zambia: Lead Times, MOQs & What to Expect

Ordering a custom casting for the first time usually raises three questions: how long will it take, is there a minimum order, and what do you need to send us? Here is what to expect when you order wear parts or custom castings from a Zambian foundry.
How Long Does a Custom Casting Take?
On average, expect about 30 days from confirmed order to delivery, though it depends heavily on the casting’s size, complexity, and the quantity ordered. Simple, smaller parts in a grade we cast regularly can move faster; large or complex castings, or a first-time pattern, can take longer. We will give you a specific lead time once we have seen your drawing or sample.
Is There a Minimum Order Quantity?
MOQ depends on the product and a number of other factors, pattern cost, casting size, and alloy all play a part. For parts we already have tooling for, like our standard product families, we can often accommodate small or single-unit orders. For a brand-new pattern, there may be a practical minimum to make the tooling cost worthwhile, ask us directly and we will give you a straight answer for your specific part.
What to Send Us for an Accurate Quote
- A drawing with dimensions and tolerances, if you have one
- Or a worn or sample part, we can cast directly from a worn sample if no drawing exists
- The material grade if you know it, or the equipment and feed material if you would like a recommendation
- Quantity and how soon you need it
How We Cast a Part, Step by Step
- Chemistry, the alloy is formulated and verified to spec before pouring
- Pour & cool, the mould is poured and cooled under controlled conditions
- Heat treatment, parts are heat-treated to develop the correct hardness and toughness for the grade
- Hardness test, every batch is checked against spec before it leaves the foundry
- Dimensional check, parts are measured against the drawing or sample before dispatch
Payment, Delivery, and What Happens Next
Once we have confirmed your specification, we will send a quote with lead time. We are a foundry and machine shop under one roof in Kalulushi, Copperbelt Province, so parts are cast, heat-treated, and machined without handing off between vendors, that is part of how we hold to the lead time we quote.
