There is no single answer, wear life depends on feed hardness, tonnage, and the material grade you are running, but as a working rule, jaw plates and blow bars in continuous duty typically need attention every 4 to 12 weeks, while cone, bowl, and mill liners often run 3 to 6 months before replacement, depending on ore hardness and throughput.
| Part | Typical Wear Life* | Primary Wear Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Jaw crusher plates | 4–10 weeks | Impact + abrasion |
| Blow bars | 4–12 weeks | Impact |
| Cone & bowl liners | 8–24 weeks | Sliding abrasion |
| Mill liners | 12–26 weeks | Sliding abrasion + impact |
| Crusher hammers | 4–10 weeks | Impact |
*Ranges vary significantly with feed hardness and tonnage, treat these as a starting point, not a schedule.
Running a wear part past its limit rarely saves money. A jaw plate or liner that has worn through to the backing plate can damage the equipment behind it, far more expensive than the part itself. Uneven or delayed replacement also degrades product size consistency, which shows up downstream as lower throughput or rework. Tracking wear against a known baseline, or simply replacing on a schedule built from your own data, is usually cheaper than replacing reactively.
